A Modern Take on the Toi et Moi

A Modern Take on the Toi et Moi

Our client's original heirloom rings and loose diamonds

This bride-to-be came to us with a clear vision: she wanted an engagement ring that felt original, meaningful, and unmistakably her. She brought in her old wedding set—along with several family rings and loose diamonds passed down from her mother and grandmothers—hoping to transform them into something new.

The CAD designs of the two rings--designs that allow each ring to nest perfectly in the other for a beautifully interlocking fit.

Together, we designed two rings meant to stack as one engagement set, with a third to be added later as a wedding band. Inspired by both solitaire and domed bezel styles, we crafted the rings like puzzle pieces: the first, a minimalist solitaire with an emerald-cut diamond set in 14k white gold with cat-claw prongs. The second, in 14k yellow gold, featured a domed design with an east-west bezel-set emerald-cut diamond and a tiny “wink”—a single round diamond from her grandmother’s ring, tucked in the shoulder.

A wax model for our client to get a feel for her final engagement set with a future emerald eternity band to eventually accompany the rings as a final trio.

The final, finished rings.

We love helping clients reimagine heirlooms in ways that feel both modern and deeply personal. This one was all heart—with just the right hint of sparkle.
