The History:

A beautifully romantic Edwardian pendant depicting a pansy blossom in rich shades of violet and lavender, with softly graduated ivory centers and delicate hand-painted details. A prong-set diamond rests at the heart of the flower, adding a lovely touch of brilliance to the richly colored matte enamel.  This enameled piece consists of 14k yellow gold. This brooch from the early 1900s has been converted to a pendant.

The pansy holds a special place in the history of sentimental jewelry, its name derived from the French word pensée, meaning “thought.” During the Victorian era, pansies became treasured symbols of remembrance, affection, and the unspoken message “think of me.” Often exchanged between sweethearts and loved ones, these delicate flowers were part of an elaborate language of floral symbolism that continued to influence jewelry design well into the twentieth century. With its beautifully modeled petals and painterly enamelwork, this charming vintage pendant preserves the enduring romance of the pansy.

This vintage piece features authentic, hand painted matte enamel and a genuine diamond, with minor wear consistent with age. This piece measures 1.5" in length including the bail and 1.25" in width.

We recommend pairing this pendant with our Classic Gold Rolo Chain, Classic Silver Rolo Chain, Classic Slim Gold Omega Necklace, or Classic Small Gold Omega Necklace.
