The History:
This vintage 9 karat gold swizzle stick features a slender cylindrical body with decorative collars and a retractable stirring mechanism. When extended, four fine arms open outward, with a small spherical finial at the center. This piece includes hallmarks at the base of the swizzle stick as well as on the original bail.
Retractable swizzle sticks became popular cocktail accessories during the early twentieth century, particularly throughout the Art Deco period. Often made in precious metals or gold-plated finishes, these miniature bar accessories combined practical function with the craftsmanship of personal accessories.
This piece was originally made and sourced in England.
This piece measures 3.375" when closed and the swizzles extend an additional 2" when opened.
