The History:

This Victorian insect stick pin conversion pendant features a sterling silver fly decorated with turquoise cabochons in varying shades of blue and green, with two small ruby cabochons forming the eyes. The wings are delicately modeled with engraved details, while a larger oval turquoise cabochon held in prongs makes up the body of the fly.

Insects were a popular motif in nineteenth-century jewelry, particularly during the later Victorian period, when naturalistic designs became increasingly fashionable. Often associated with transformation and renewal, bugs, butterflies and insects of all sorts appeared in brooches, pendants, and other decorative accessories. The combination of colorful gemstones and intricate metalwork is characteristic of the period's interest in detailed representations of insects and the natural world.

This piece was originally made and sourced in England and shows wear consistent with age.

This piece measures just over 0.75" in length including the bail and just over 0.5" in width.

We recommend pairing this pendant with our Classic Gold Rolo Chain, Classic Silver Rolo Chain, Classic Slim Gold Omega Necklace, or Classic Small Gold Omega Necklace.
