Esther Serpent Pedant

This one-of-a-kind necklace is composed of:

  • Victorian pendant from the late 1800s featuring a bullseye banded agate cabochon stone framed with a gilded serpent setting. This pendant was originally made and sourced in England.
  • This necklace measures a standard 18” on a modern 14k gold filled chain, with the pendant measuring 2.25" from the top of the bail to the bottom of the pendant.

Queen Victoria brought snake jewelry into the fashion spotlight in the 1800s when her husband-to-be, Prince Albert, bought her a snake engagement ring, set with an emerald (her birthstone). The Victorians associated the snake motif with eternal love. As one of the first Queens to be regularly seen out and about, Victoria’s style was emulated throughout the world and was quickly emulated in brooches, necklaces, and other jewelry designs not only in her time, but for years to come.
