This Victorian, 15k gold lion watch fob pendant from the 1800s features hand embossed details. This piece is semi-hollow and was originally made and sourced in England.

THE HISTORY:
Nearly every civilization has found strength in the lion as a symbol of great power, protection, leadership, and nobility. The Etruscans and Egyptians inscribed and carved leonine guardians on their sacred tombs and structures. Romans shared myths of nearly undefeatable lions, taken down by the hands of the Gods themselves, to then be exalted into the Heavens as the constellation Leo. Since the 12th Century, lions have been used as an English heraldic symbol. Often found in crests and jewelry, the stylized stance of the lion garnered meaning for its usage.
