Swanson Gold Cigarette Ring
THE STORY:
This unique ring from the early 1900s was originally meant to hold a cigarette! Cigarette holders like this 14k gold beauty came in various shapes, lengths and sizes, and were generally used to protect fingers or gloves from staining--but, ultimately, these little contraptions were really all about the show (and drama)!
Anyone could smoke a cigarette, rich and poor alike, but to stand apart--to make a statement about personality and class--a little flair was called for when smoking.
Be sure to a look at the video in this product carousel to see a similar ring in use in the 1950 movie Sunset Boulevard!
