Cordelia Victorian Carnelian Watch Fob Pendant

The History:

This Victorian watch fob features a rich, reddish-brown carnelian seal set within an elaborately decorated gold-toned mount. This piece features a beautifully sculpted setting adorned with scrolling foliage and ornamental flourishes, reflecting the Victorian fascination with elaborate metalwork and classical design.

Carnelian was a favored gemstone for nineteenth-century seals, prized for its warm, translucent color and smooth surface, which could be engraved with personal initials, family crests, or symbolic imagery. Traditionally suspended from a gentleman's pocket watch chain, fobs served as both decorative accessories and practical seals for personal correspondence. The unengraved carnelian offers a lovely glimpse into the history of personal adornment and correspondence.

This piece was originally made and sourced in England and shows wear consistent with age and measures 1.25" from bottom of the piece to top of the fob. Seal measures just over .75" by  .63".
