The History:

This Victorian clover pendant is crafted in silver with contrasting black niello decoration and warm rose-colored metal accents. The three rounded leaves feature a softly sculpted surface, each decorated with small star-shaped motifs that stand out against the dark niello background. A raised rose-colored bead sits at the center, while a gently curved stem completes the design.

Niello is a traditional metalworking technique in which a dark metallic compound, typically composed of silver, copper, and sulfur, is applied to recessed areas of a metal surface. Once polished, the niello creates a lasting black contrast against the surrounding metal. The technique dates back to antiquity and remained an important decorative practice in European jewelry and metalwork throughout the Victorian era.

The clover was a familiar motif in nineteenth-century jewelry, often associated with good fortune and affection. This example combines the naturalistic form of the clover with contrasting metalwork and fine star-shaped detailing, reflecting the Victorian interest in botanical motifs and decorative surface treatments.

This piece was originally made and sourced in England and shows wear consistent with age.

This piece measures just under 1.5" in height including the bail and 1" in width.

We recommend pairing this pendant with our Classic Gold Rolo Chain, Classic Silver Rolo Chain, Classic Slim Gold Omega Necklace, or Classic Small Gold Omega Necklace.
