The History:
This Art Deco locket pairs sterling silver and black niello with delicate 10k yellow gold detailing. A diagonal floral motif framed by engraved gold bands decorates the front, while fine diagonal stripes pattern the reverse.
Niello is a centuries-old technique in which a dark metallic compound fills recessed designs, creating contrast with the polished metal. Here, it complements the geometric lines and botanical details of the Art Deco era. Inside, two circular compartments hold photographs or small keepsakes.
This piece was originally made and sourced in England and shows wear consistent with age. The interior compartments are empty and show signs of age.
This piece measures 1.5" in length including the bail and just over 1" in width.
