The History:

This 9k, Victorian oval locket features a delicate horseshoe adorned with seed pearls, set against a vibrant turquoise-blue enamel background and framed by an intricate horseshoe border. The enamel on this piece is immaculate and still has the original frames inside. The back features hand engraved details with the letters "ALK".

Horseshoes were among the most beloved symbols in Victorian sentimental jewelry, traditionally associated with good fortune, protection, and prosperity. Often exchanged as tokens of affection, these lucky charms were thought to bring happiness to their wearers. The seed pearls add another layer of sentiment, symbolizing purity and enduring love, while the vivid blue enamel recalls the forget-me-not flower and its association with remembrance. The elaborate horseshoe border and finely engraved details make this a particularly charming example of nineteenth-century symbolic jewelry.

This piece was originally made and sourced in England and shows wear consistent with age.

This piece measures approximately 1.325" in length by 0.75" in width.
