The History:

A charming Edwardian pansy pendant with beautifully sculpted petals in warm shades of golden yellow and amber, accented by delicate white centers and fine, hand-painted burgundy details. A prong-set diamond rests at the heart of the blossom, lending a subtle brilliance to the richly colored enamelwork. This enameled piece consists of 18k yellow gold. This pendant from the early 1900s has been converted from a brooch to a pendant.

The pansy was among the most beloved flowers in Victorian sentimental jewelry, its name derived from the French word pensée, meaning “thought.” Throughout the nineteenth century, pansies were exchanged as tokens of remembrance and affection, carrying the tender message “think of me.” Their symbolism endured into the Edwardian era, when naturalistic floral designs and colorful enamelwork remained fashionable. With its softly modeled petals, vivid coloring, and delicate detailing, this lovely pendant preserves the romantic tradition of floral jewelry.

This antique piece features enamel and a central diamond, with minor wear consistent with age. This piece measures 1.25" from the bottom to the top of the bail and is 1" wide.

We recommend pairing this pendant with our Classic Gold Rolo Chain, Classic Silver Rolo Chain, Classic Slim Gold Omega Necklace, or Classic Small Gold Omega Necklace.
