An Aquamarine of Dreams

Kelsey's inherited cushion cut Aquamarine.

Kelsey came to us with a gorgeous Aquamarine she inherited from her mother - she had had the stone for some time, but never decided on a design to set it in.

Initial design sketches.

We love a client that wants to go the non-traditional route and isn't afraid of color--and that's exactly how we approached Kelsey's ring. Not wanting to overpower her pale blue aquamarine, and still wanting an unexpected pop of color, we decided the design would work best with lighter-colored emeralds.

Kelsey is a shop owner and handles a lot of garments daily - knowing this, we avoided a design with prongs and went with a bezel setting to prevent any picking or snagging on clothing.

The final ring design.

To let as much light in to make that beautiful pale blue stone sparkle, we went with an open bezel east-west setting.

The final, finished ring turned out to be one of our all-time favorite custom designs. The non-traditional east-west setting not only makes an impact, but the pale green + blue color combo makes this new cocktail ring one to make an impact.
