Size 8: Heirloom Button Rings
All ring bases are sterling silver and are made to a standard size 8, Victorian buttons vary in metal and design.
In the mid 19th century, buttons became common in both decoration and fashion. Victorians who wanted to express their fancy for an author, work, or hobby would sew buttons decorated with related scenes on their shirts, vests, or waist coats. It was often a point of conversation or interest to discuss one’s choice of picture buttons at a party or in passing. As soon as the clothing wore out or fell out of fashion, the buttons would be removed and sewn onto new garments.
