Lottie Pearl + Onyx Engagement Bracelet
The History Lesson:
This restored Victorian engagement bracelet from 1879 features black enamel details with a pearl adorned onyx center and Etruscan end caps. This gold filled bracelet comes from a tradition centuries ago in which a groom would present his future bride with a set of bracelets: one to be worn at the beginning of their engagement and the second to be put on the day of her wedding. Women would often pass these down from daughter to daughter.
This gold filled bracelet measures 2.25” across in inner diameter and 6.5” in inner circumference.
This bracelet is patented December 16, 1879.
Condition: the enameling of the bracelet arms show signs of wear consistent with age.
