Adrienne Bohemian Garnet Necklace
THE NECKLACE
We've never had a necklace quite like this one: hailing from the late 1800s, this Victorian beauty has maintained all of her original rose cut Bohemian garnets in her design. Exquisite workmanship, meticulously designed, set, and assembled; the garnets are spectacular, a rich & resonant deep red in a classic rose cut that shows off the deep red hues. Timeless design, evoking the grace & elegance of a bygone era. All original stones, impeccable condition throughout.
The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gilded brass, and all of the garnet gems are intact. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
THE HISTORY
The word “Bohemian” derives from the region of Bohemia, a kingdom which later became Czechoslovakia. Garnet stones were thought to resemble pomegranate seeds - a fruit that represented prosperity and wealth in ancient times. Throughout the centuries, this region continued to produce gorgeous, deep red garnet gemstones - the prolific mining of the gems in the 1800s resulted in their appearance throughout late Victorian Era and turn-of-the-century jewelry.
This necklace measures 18" in length.
